Campbell County Public Library offers activities for adults and children at all branches in Sept.


The Campbell County Public Library operates four branches.

The Cold Spring Branch is located at 3920 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, phone 859-781-6166. The Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch is located at 1000 Highland Ave. in Fort Thomas, phone 859-572-5033. The Newport Branch is located at 901 E. Sixth St. in Newport, phone 859-572-5035. The Alexandria Branch is located at 8830 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria, phone 859-572-7463.

There are two Express locations for pickups and returns in Silver Grove and Melbourne.

Bob Ross Paint Along

Paper Quilled Candle Holder

Join us as we practice paper quilling techniques to create a candle holder. Don’t be intimidated by this papercraft skill. We will cover the basic shapes for you to create your own unique design.

Art @ The Armory: Autumn Tree Dot Art

Head to the Armory in Tower for a seasonally fun project to create a painting perfect for the Autumn season! Using cotton swabs with acrylic paint you can make colorful leaves for your tree on canvas. Join us while supplies last in this quick and simple craft. All ages. Force and Motion Lab

Today we are conducting physics experiments. In other words, we are playing with marble runs, Hot Wheels, and other toys that show how force effects motion. Grades 1-5. No need to register.

Mommy & Baby Yoga

Let’s Color

Very simply we will be coloring. There will be some coloring pages of varying difficulties, mazes, and connect the dots. You can grab a blank sheet of paper and make your own masterpiece or create your own comic strip. Crayons, color pencils, marker! It is up to you to decide what to use, so let’s color! Ages 11-19. YART: The Art Yard Sale
11 am-4 pm Saturday, Sept. 14
Dozens of local artists, crafters and students will sell their own original creations. Among our vendors, we will be showing ceramics, jewelry, illustrations, textiles and many other mediums. On top of that, everything is sold for $30 or less! There will be food vendors stationed in the parking lot offering lunch and sweet options to all our hungry shoppers and a kids craft corner for the kids to make something creative to take home. Teacher Supply Swap
11 am-2 pm Saturday, Sept. 14
The Newport Branch is hosting its first Teacher Supply Swap during our annual YART, Yard Art Sale, the second Saturday of September. We will have lots of items — from binders to art supplies to plastic bins — for teachers to take for their classrooms. This same weekend our Friends of the Library are hosting their bimonthly book sale and will be offering discounts to teachers the Saturday of the swap. Fall Trashion Show

From New York to Paris to Milan. The world greatest fashion designers get to show off their skills and models walk the catwalk. This year some new talents will take the stage at the Newport Library as we have our own Fall Trashion Show. Designers will be given 45 minutes to an hour to create clothing out of the recyclable materials that will be provided. Then the last few minutes or so we will have our show off our outfits to one another. Ages 11-19. No need to register.

Exploration Station: Fall Celebration

Sensory play is a way that you and your child can have fun while building language skills, developing motor skills, and exploring sensations! This fun, monthly program gives you and your child a place to explore with this kind of play. We will have sensory stations available to play with and learn from. From sensory bins and a water table, to discovery bottles and bags, we will have lots of options to choose from while you are here. This month, there will be themed activities and stations to explore autumn. This is a drop-in program, so feel free to stop by at any time and stay for as little or as long as you would like. Yoga for Young Ones

Yoga is a great way to mix movement and reading together in this story time. We will learn yoga poses to go with a story and practice mindfulness exercises for kids! Sensory Science Story Time

Children, all ages are invited to use all of their senses to explore stories, songs and hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities. Our ‘Sensory Science’ programs begin with a short story time that integrates movement and song, and end with hands-on STEAM exploration. This program is designed for children with sensory integration challenges but is open to children of all abilities. Mommy & Me Plaster & Ceramics of Independence, Ky, will provide plaster figurines for children to decorate. Plaster Craft is a non-fired way to paint items for memorable or ornamental purposes. Since these crafts do not need to be fired like ceramic, children can take their masterpieces home immediately. All ages. Registration required.
