Three of the Beckfield College nursing programs – the three-year accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and the Diploma in Practical Nursing programs – have received programmatic accreditations.
The accreditations enhance the quality of Beckfield’s nursing programs, create more scholarship opportunities for students, and increases employability in specialty areas of nursing and additional hospitals.
“It is important to us to educate and provide highly qualified, workforce-ready nurses who are readily employed upon passing their national licensure exams,” said Beckfield College President Diane Wolfer. “In fact, we have several hospitals who come to our campus to interview and recruit our upcoming graduates so that many are already employed contingent upon licensure.”

Job and career prospects for nursing are strong. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 14.8 percent increasing in nursing employment over the next 10 years.
“Our programs are based on a Quality and Safety in Education of Nurses (QSEN) model, one of the competency models recommended by the Institute of Medicine,” said Beckfield Dean of Nursing Dr. Deborah Smith-Clay. “We listen to our advisory board and study national trends regarding current issues in nursing – such as human trafficking, the opioid crisis, and infectious disease – and bring relevant coursework into the appropriate areas based upon current health care needs.”
The three-year accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing has achieved accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This accreditation also applies to the online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) completion program.
Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is an autonomous accrediting agency, contributing to the improvement of the public’s health. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.
CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices. As a voluntary, self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing programs and supports continuing growth and improvement of collegiate professional education and nurse residency programs.
In addition, Beckfield College has also gained accreditation for its Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and Diploma in Practical Nursing programs through the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).
The NLN’s accreditation services, represented by the NLN Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA), promotes excellence and integrity in nursing education globally through an accreditation process that respects the diversity of program mission, curricula, students, and faculty It emphasizes a culture of continuous quality improvement; and influences the preparation of a caring and competent nursing workforce.
CNEA carries out its accreditation activities guided by the National League for Nursing’s core values – caring, diversity, integrity, and excellence – as applied to the accreditation process.
