News briefs: Educator Appreciation Week at Newport Aquarium; CTI adds, promotes in legal department


Newport Aquarium would like to thank teachers for all they do by providing free admission, plus an exclusive discount when they visit with their family and friends, August 12-18.

It’s the perfect time to visit Newport Aquarium during Shark Summer. Guests can view the giant sand sculptures and other attractions on display, as part of Shark Summer.

A current valid educator ID must be shown at the ticket window to receive your complimentary ticket. Family members and friends can receive $6 off adult tickets and $4 off child tickets when accompanying an educator.

CTI adds two to legal department

Covington-based CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services (CTI), a multi-national, privately held, full-service contract research organization is pleased to announce the promotion of Jasmin Öztekin to Senior International Corporate Counsel and the addition of Derek Vanover to the legal department.

“We are thrilled to announce Jasmin’s promotion and welcome Derek to CTI,” remarks Paul Ritter, Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. “Jasmin has proven to be a wonderful resource for our company and our department since joining us, and Derek brings to the table skills and experience that will be valuable to both CTI and our partners. We are happy to have both Jasmin and Derek on our team and look forward to their future successes.”

Oztekin joined CTI in July 2014 as Corporate Counsel, Europe, bringing with her more than 15 years of legal experience in the clinical research industry. Oztekin has been responsible for much of the legal work outside the United States, including sponsor, vendor, employment and site contracting, and labor relations.

Oztekin earned her Master of Laws from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

Vanover

Vanover joins CTI with a background in various legal disciplines. In his new role with CTI, Derek will facilitate contracts between sites and sponsors, manage the contracting for CTI’s Clinical Research Center, and advise in general business and employee relations.

Derek earned his undergraduate degree in history from University of Kentucky and his Juris Doctorate from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
