The Tailgate Celebration is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6, from 5-8 p.m. in the parking lot of Beckfield College, 16 Spiral Drive in Florence.

“This is such a significant milestone for Beckfield College and it’s worth celebrating,” said Beckfield College President and CEO Diane Wolfer. “We’ve been in the community for 35 years, and we still feel like we are one of the best kept secrets in the area. So much has changed since we opened, and we have continued to evolve to meet the needs of the community.

Beckfield College is a career focused educational institution with a campus in Florence, which is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools to award baccalaureate degrees, associate degrees and diplomas. “The Tailgate Celebration is a chance for students, parents, employers, families, those who are thinking about going back to school, and really anyone in the community who wants to learn more about Beckfield and just have a good time,” Wolfer said.

The Tailgate theme was chosen to coincide with the high school football season in Northern Kentucky. Four area teams that are near Beckfield will be playing that evening.

Boone County High School, which is located in Florence, will play Lloyd High School in Erlanger while Ryle High School of Union will play at Cooper High School in Boone County.

“We are encouraging parents, families and fans to stop by before those or any of the other games in Northern Kentucky that night to help celebrate our anniversary, have some pizza and cheese coneys, listen to some music and have a great time at Beckfield,” President Wolfer said.

The Tailgate Celebration will feature:

• Free food and drinks from LaRosa’s Pizza and Skyline Chili

• Tailgate games like giant pong and cornhole

• Q102’s Fritsch from the Jeff and Jenn Morning Show

• A prize wheel and giveaways that include Cincinnati Reds tickets, fitness trackers and more

• A bounce house and face painting for kids

• Rock painting for the NKY Hidden Rocks movement to spread joy and inspiration by painting and hiding rocks around the community.

Beckfield College opened its doors in 1984 under the name Educational Services Center.  The school was started by Dr. Harry L. Beck based on a need he saw in the community for individuals who wanted personalized career training outside of the traditional setting.

With decades of experience working in higher education, Dr. Beck set forth to provide a school setting that was centered on the student and the students’ success.  Its purpose was to provide higher education and technical training to those who demonstrated the ability to benefit from such education and training.

That tradition continues today, but with more health care focused program offerings, further expansion into the community, and continuously evolving to meet both the student’s and community’s educational needs.
