People in News: Maddox is Hazlitt Freshman of Year, Dubbs joins Heritage, Miller gets Pony Club award

Rep. Savannah Maddox of Dry Ridge has been honored with the Hazlitt Coalition National Freshman of the Year Award for her legislative accomplishments.

The Hazlitt Coalition is a growing network of state legislators and full-time staff advocating for principled policies that free markets, protect civil liberties, and promote peace. The coalition provides the nation’s lawmakers with modern legislation, facts, and strategies to achieve a free society through public policy.

Maddox has gained national attention for the sponsorship and passage of the Campus Free Speech Act, a bill which would eliminate free speech zones on college campuses in Kentucky and provide the broadest possible latitude for free speech. Maddox also carried through a bill that eliminated concealed carry law restrictions for gun owners.

“My constituents elected me to be a strong advocate for their constitutionally protected rights,” Maddox said.
