Campbell County Public Library offers activities for adults and children at all branches in July


The Campbell County Public Library operates four branches.

The Cold Spring Branch is located at 3920 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, phone 859-781-6166. The Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch is located at 1000 Highland Ave. in Fort Thomas, phone 859-572-5033. The Newport Branch is located at 901 E. Sixth St. in Newport, phone 859-572-5035. The Alexandria Branch is located at 8830 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria, phone 859-572-7463.

There are two Express locations for pickups and returns in Silver Grove and Melbourne.

Meet Astronaut Don Thomas: Living & Working in Space

Galaxy Suncatchers (drop-in)

Using a plastic plate and stained glass paints, we’ll make cosmically cool suncatchers. This craft should take about 20-30 minutes to complete. Ages 18 & up. No need to register; just drop in during program hours while supplies last.

Dungeons & Dragons

All levels of experience welcomed as we play Dungeons & Dragons 5e. This session will continue with our campaigns, premade characters will be available for those without a character who would like to join. Ages 11-19. No need to register.

Cincinnati Observatory: Tour of the Universe
6 pm Wednesday, July 24
Rocket through space and sail among billions of stars and galaxies. Utilizing some amazing simulation software Dean Regas guides you through the mind-boggling scale of the universe. Along the way you’ll stop at the Moon and individual planets. Then you’ll make the jump to light speed and head to interstellar space and see all the galaxies in the universe. Don’t worry, he’ll have you back home in time for bed. Ages 18 & up. No need to register.

DIY Zodiac Soap
3:30 pm Thursday, July 25
Explore the planetary influences attributed to zodiac signs and personality traits while you make your very own zodiac soap. Using a predetermined soap base, ancient zodiac oil blends, and all things far out participants can customize their own planetary inspired summer reading soap.This program will be led by Carisa Bunten of Seventh Street Gifts. Rocket Science

Getting to space takes a lot of energy.  Using common household items we build a rocket. Let’s see how close we get to escaping Earth’s gravity. Grades 1-5. No need to register.

Have a close encounter of the library kind. Craft a UFO, find hidden outer space visitors and toss some alien slime as we celebrate the end of our summer in space. Grades 1-5. No need to register.

It has been 50 years since the first person landed on the moon. To celebrate we will do some experiments to see how the moon affects the Earth and what it would be like to live there. Grades 1-5. No need to register.

Exploration Station: Solar System

Sensory play is a way that you and your child can have fun while building language skills, developing motor skills, and exploring sensations. This fun, monthly program gives you and your child a place to explore with this kind of play. We will have sensory stations available to play with and learn from. From sensory bins and a water table to discovery bottles and bags, we will have lots of options to choose from while you are here. This month, there will be themed activities and stations to explore our solar system. This is a drop-in program, so feel free to stop by at any time and stay for as little or as long as you would like. All ages. No need to register.

Yoga for Young Ones

Learn yoga poses to go with a story and practice mindfulness exercises. There will also be songs as well as a craft and open play. Bring a yoga mat if you would like to, but they are not required.
