Bevin appointments include new Gateway board members; Spike Jones to Law Enforcement Council


Gov. Matt Bevin’s appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions include several Northern Kentuckians.

Charles Clifford Coleman, John Baines and Charles L. Session, Jr. have been appointed as members of the Gateway Community and Technical College Board of Directors.

• Charles Clifford Coleman, of Alexandria, is retired. He will serve for a term expiring Nov. 15, 2024; and

• John Baines, of Fort Thomas, is a managing director. He will serve for a term expiring Nov. 15, 2019; and

• Charles L. Session, Jr., of Union, is vice president of government affairs for Duke Energy Kentucky. He will serve for a term expiring Nov. 15, 2024.

The members of the Gateway Community and Technical College Board of Directors are responsible for adopting and implementing an annual budget, approving budget requests, and evaluating the functions of the school and the school’s staff.

Michael D. “Spike” Jones, Charles E. “Chuck” Dills II, and Anthony James Lucas have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.

• Michael D. “Spike” Jones, of Covington, is a police chief for Kenton County. He will represent chiefs of police and will serve for a term expiring July 1, 2023;

• Charles E. “Chuck” Dills II, of Williamstown, is judge/executive of Grant County. He will represent county judge/executives and will serve for a term expiring July 1, 2023;

• Anthony James Lucas, of Independence, is police chief of Independence. He will represent chiefs of police and will serve for a term expiring July 1, 2023.

The Kentucky Law Enforcement Council is a 20-member body, 12 of whom are appointed by the Governor. The Council governs training for all of the state’s law enforcement. It looks for ways to increase the quality of law enforcement by improving the curriculum used to train law enforcement officials and monitoring the abilities of the instructors who teach the required curriculum.

Thomas Charles Evans, has been appointed as a member of the Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

• Thomas Charles Evans, of Union, is a pediatric audiologist. He will represent Kentucky Speech-Language-Hearing Association and will serve for a term expiring July 1, 2022.

Kelly Preston of Hebron has been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors.

She is the director of Behind the Badge and will represent citizens-at-large and serve for a term expiring July 16, 2020.

The Kentucky Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors administers and enforces the statutory authority and monitors the needs of the consuming public. The Board examines and certifies all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of Alcohol and Drug Counseling and recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality.

Four members of the Gateway Community and Technical College Nominating Commission:

Kenneth C. Moellman Jr., of Foster, is a business consultant. He will serve for a term expiring April 15, 2022;

Stacie Alane Earl, of Florence, is a massage therapist. She will serve for a term expiring April 15, 2020;

Mark Hunter, of Independence, is a business owner. He will serve for a term expiring April 15, 2023; and

Jan Kathryn Skavdahl, of Crescent Springs, is a nursing instructor. She will serve for a term expiring April 15, 2023.

Andrew J. Cole has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Fee-Based Pastoral Counselors.

Andrew J. Cole, of Burlington, is a campus ministry director. He will represent citizens-at-large and serve for a term expiring Sept. 22, 2022.

The Kentucky Board of Licensure for Fee-Based Pastoral Counselors consists of five members that are appointed by the Governor. The Board regulates and controls the licensing and conduct of fee-based pastoral counselors within the Commonwealth.
