City of Union accepting applications for annual ‘Celebrates America’ parade, takes place June 28


The City of Union is currently accepting registrations to be a part of the 2019 Union Celebrates America parade.

The 2019 “Union Celebrates America” parade and community event is scheduled for Friday, June 28.

The parade will start around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Old Union Road and Mt. Zion Road.  The parade will proceed to the East on Mt. Zion and head South on US 42 to Frogtown Road.

The parade will turn right on Double Eagle Drive, where the parade will terminate.

Area residents will be affected by the closure of US Highway 42, from approximately 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The area between Mt. Zion Road and Frogtown Road will be closed starting at 6:30 p.m. for the annual Union Celebrates America Parade.  

US42 will reopen immediately following the conclusion of the parade event.

The area of OldUS42/Old Union Road between Westbrook Boulevard and Mt. Zion Road, along with Mt. Zion to US42 will also be closed from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. for through traffic to stage the parade.

Residents are advised to consider alternate routes or consult the WAZE app for directions.

The Parade will end on Double Eagle Drive near Ryle High School at approximately 7:15.

The City Of Union invites everyone to attend the street party immediately following the parade.

The Party will be held on the grounds of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church across from Ryle, featuring live music from the Wulfe Brothers Band, beer from Braxton Brewery and food truck vendors from the Cincinnati Food Trucks Association and children’s activities including bounce houses, balloon art, crafts and a bubble machine.

The event will conclude at approximately 10 p.m. with a fireworks show by Vito’s Fireworks.

This is the 10th year for the Celebrate America Event, and the event continues to grow.

The Celebrate America event is free to attend, and you are not required to be a resident of the city.  A complete schedule, parade maps and directions to the event are available on the city website at www.cityofunionky.org

There will be a community street celebration event immediately following the parade at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church at 10272 US 42– music by professional entertainers “The Wulfe Bros.” begins at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks following at approximately 10:00 p.m.

A parade participation form is available on the city website at www.cityofunionky.org or by calling the city building at 859-384-1511 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday to obtain a form.

The Union parade is non-partisan, and political campaigns are not permitted to participate.
