Erlanger-based Perfetti Van Melle USA will hold the official ribbon-cutting for the company’s recently completed warehouse and distribution center at the new Erlanger Commerce Center today.
Perfetti Van Melle warehousing and distribution employees previously located at the Hebron facility, have now made the move to the new Commerce Center, former site of the Erlanger’s Showcase Cinemas, and are ready to officially open the doors.
Perfetti Van Melle Benelux B.V. is a privately owned global company established in March 2001 through the merger of Perfetti SpA and Van Melle B.V.
Perfetti Van Melle manufactures and markets confectionery and chewing gum products in more than 150 countries. Its brands include Mentos, Frisk, Chupa Chups, Smint, Fruittella, Alpenliebe, Golia, Vivident, Airheads, Happydent & Big Babol. The Group has corporate headquarters in Italy and The Netherlands.
Sylvia Buxton, President and CEO of Perfetti Van Melle USA, says the move from Hebron to the new Erlanger location is in response to the need to “Support our continued growth.
“Perfetti Van Melle continues to outpace – by seven times – the growth of our competitors in the non-chocolate, gum and mints category of confection,” Buxton said. “We plan to continue this growth and the creation of more job opportunities in the region.”
Buxton also explained that the proximity of the new warehouse and distribution center to the company’s manufacturing facility on Turfway Road, is a plus.
“Our new distribution center is conveniently located close to our Erlanger manufacturing facility,” she said. “This provides us with expanded warehousing and shipping capabilities, as well as direct access to major highways.”

This new state-of-the art warehouse and distribution center includes:
• Dimensions of 540 feet wide by 720 feet long.
• Square footage of nearly 400,000 feet.
• A trucker’s court with 87 trailer spots with back haul capabilities.
From the new warehouse and distribution center, Perfetti Van Melle will annually ship nearly 13,000 cases of product to more than 500 unique customers in more than, 1,100 unique locations.
The grand opening will include a welcome from Buxton, as well as remarks from area elected officials, and the official ribbon cutting. There will also be a demonstration of the ever-popular geyser that erupts when Mentos are placed in Coca-Cola. In fact, there may well be multiple geysers erupting to celebrate this grand opening.
