Local author Lauren Hudson writes fourth book, working with her father, grandfather,

Staff report

2018 Independent Author of the Year Lauren Hudson has co-authored the second book in her Students Leading America Series with her father Rob Hudson.

It is illustrated by her grandfather, Bob Hudson.

In It Can Be Done – Students Leading an Exceptional America, the father and daughter offer a book with a big idea and purpose. It is published by Headline Books.

Co-author Rob Hudson said he hopes the book can “serve as a tool to re-frame part of our public discourse by focusing on positive opportunities for our youth.”

Intended to be read together by families, It Can Be Done tells stories based on the authors’ family experiences where ordinary Americans overcame difficult circumstances to become amazing, loving, productive, happy people.

The father-daughter authors present a positive message creatively, with teaching points interspersed throughout the book’s stories.

It Can Be Done’s teaching points focus on “Pillars of Exceptionalism” for individuals and the country, such as hope; work ethic; integrity; honesty; education; competitiveness; charity; community; patriotism; freedom; marriage; family; saving and avoiding debt, and respecting religion.

In latter portions of the book, the authors transition to chapters that promote critical thinking about America’s challenges and opportunities.

Co-author Lauren Hudson describes It Can Be Done as a book in which the authors “Advance the premise that America’s youth have every reason to be hopeful about their future. Americans share common ground and positive traits we can build on. Instead of focusing on differences, we can shift focus to a bigger picture of blessings and gratitude.”

It Can Be Done
follows up on father-daughter authors Lauren and Robert Hudson’s Our Best Tomorrow – Students Teaching Capitalism to America. After winning the Best Business Book Award at the Great Southeast Book Festival and a Mom’s Choice Gold Award, Our Best Tomorrow received recognition across the country as a groundbreaking book for teaching students about free markets.

Stuart Varney of Fox News, who featured Our Best Tomorrow on air several times, described co-author and 2018 Independent Author of the Year Lauren Hudson on air as a “bright, shining example of capitalism and the American way,” further commenting Lauren should be “running for President in the year 2056!”

Lauren Hudson, now a 19-year-old freshman at the University of Kentucky studying neuroscience, has co-authored medical journal articles. She will soon complete her third young adult fantasy novel.
