St. Elizabeth Healthcare honors breast cancer survivors with Day of Celebration Feb. 9

The Day of Celebration event at St. Elizabeth Healthcare is a powerful annual event that offers education, support and relaxation to breast cancer survivors.

The theme of the February 9, Day of Celebration – Your Presence is the Best Present – is especially fitting for this year, as Kendra Scott will be providing each survivor with a special piece of jewelry.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Kendra Scott donated 130 pieces of jewelry to give to survivors at the Day of Celebration,” says Terri Bogan, Manager of the St. Elizabeth Women’s Wellness Centers. “The jewelry was donated in beautifully wrapped gift boxes with a personalized note from the Kendra Scott staff at the Kenwood Towne Center location. During our event, we are celebrating the gifts we give to each other with support and care, and a keepsake piece of Kendra Scott jewelry.”

The Day of Celebration started 20 years ago when Terri Bogan and the director of holistic health wanted to create an event to celebrate life and survivorship of women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Each year, 200- 250 women join together to connect with other survivors and celebrate their journeys. The event is also attended by the St. Elizabeth nurse navigator staff, an instrumental piece of each patient’s breast cancer journey.

“It’s a wonderful way for everyone to re-connect and share the love and support with fellow survivors and their support teams,” says Bogan. “Some of the best friendships have started at previous Day of Celebration events and we hope to continue the tradition.”

Survivorship care is a critical piece of a patient’s continued recovery and a priority of the St. Elizabeth team. Surviving breast cancer can create circumstances for women that others will not face in their lifetime. At the Day of Celebration event, speakers touch on the unique issues surrounding survivorship and offer support and resources to help patients continue on their recovery journey. Patients are also able to share their own firsthand experiences to help other survivors, as well as participate in fun activities to help foster support and long-term relationships.
