KDE seeks feedback on standards for career studies and financial literacy; link here to provide feedback

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is seeking feedback on the draft Kentucky Academic Standards for Career Studies (K-12) and Financial Literacy (9-12).

Senate Bill 1 (2017) calls for KDE to implement a process for reviewing all academic standards and aligned assessments with one or two content areas to be reviewed each year and every six years after that on a rotating basis.

Additionally, HB 132, which was passed in the spring of 2018, now appears in KRS 158.1411 and requires successful completion of a course or program on financial literacy for high school graduation and establishes the development of academic standards for financial literacy.

Included as a strand within the career studies standards, the 9-12 grade band builds on a developmental progression of financial literacy standards from K-12.

Beginning Jan. 29 and continuing through March 1, anyone interested is invited to review the current career studies and financial literacy standards to share feedback and suggestions for use in the review and development process for the new standards.

Feedback and comments will be thoughtfully considered, and any needed revisions made before bringing forward a draft of proposed standards for further comment and eventual approval by the Kentucky Board of Education.

To provide feedback on the Kentucky Academic Standards for Career Studies and Financial Literacy, go to this website, where you can read the standards and leave comments.

Due to the amount of text within the survey, it is recommended that the survey be completed on a full-size computer or laptop.
