DBL Law gives $1 million to the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center, saying ‘cancer struggle is deeply personal’

DBL Law, the largest Northern Kentucky-based law firm, has pledged to give $1 million to the St. Elizabeth Foundation to support the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center, now under construction in Edgewood.

The 233,000-square-foot facility will be the region’s leading cancer treatment center in Greater Cincinnati when it opens in the summer of 2020.

“DBL Law partners passionately support the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center,” said Jim Dressman, DBL Law Managing Partner. “For many of us, the cancer struggle is deeply personal. We have, like most in our community, lost friends, family, clients and co-workers. We believe our gift will have a positive impact on the future of cancer care in our region, and as business leaders, we are committed to doing our part.”

From prevention and screening to precision medicine and individually tailored treatment plans, the continuum of highly personalized care that the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center will offer will increase early detection, save lives and improve quality of life for survivors.

Ground was broken in August for the $140 million facility.

DBL Law’s gift is a major boost to St. Elizabeth Foundation’s $30 million capital campaign.

“I know I speak for individuals and families throughout our region when I say how grateful we are to DBL Law for their support of the Cancer Center and the services it will provide,” said Garren Colvin, President and CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare. “Time and again, we have turned to our friends at DBL for their civic leadership. They have long been shining examples of good corporate citizenship, understanding and serving the needs of our region so well. Now, by supporting our Cancer Center with this generous gift, they will help us heal our community for generations to come.”

DBL Law Partner Bob Hoffer also has been making a generous commitment of his own time as the Chair of the St. Elizabeth Foundation.

“As a leading business in our region, DBL Law recognizes the importance of being a strong business partner in this life-saving endeavor,” Hoffer said.

“We sincerely hope that DBL’s financial support for the Cancer Care Center inspires other business and community leaders to also make a financial commitment to help bring the best of cancer care to our families, friends and employees. We are in this fight together.”

The St. Elizabeth Cancer Center will change the trajectory of cancer in our region. Its promise inspired business and civic leaders Dan Groneck and Kristi Nelson to step forward to co-chair the capital campaign .
