Candidates: Jennifer Dusing wants to be Family Court Judge, Boone and Gallatin counties

My name is Jennifer Dusing and I am running for Family Court Judge of Boone and Gallatin Counties. I am running because I want to serve and protect the children and families in our community and I know that my personal and professional experience uniquely qualify me for the position of Family Court Judge.

I was recently endorsed as the most qualified candidate for Boone/Gallatin Family Court Judge by Northern Kentuckians for the Judiciary. Northern Kentuckians for the Judiciary, a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote the election of the most highly qualified judicial candidates in Northern Kentucky, stated that it “assembled a diverse team of experienced attorneys and civic leaders who have dedicated many hours doing thorough and nonpartisan research, interviewing each of the judicial candidates, and reviewing all of their qualifications.” After doing so, they endorsed me as the most qualified candidate for this position.

Jennifer Dusing

I believe I have the most experience in all types of Family Court cases. My legal career began in Family Court, where I served as the legal resource attorney in Boone/Gallatin Family Court. I then created a law firm on Houston Road in Florence where I have practiced family law ever since.

Family Court hears all different types of cases relating to children and families, including custody, divorce, domestic violence, child support, paternity, child abuse and neglect, termination of parental rights, and adoption. I have extensive experience in all of these types of cases. I have represented hundreds of husbands and wives in divorce cases, and mothers, fathers, grandparents, and other relatives in custody cases.

For four years I served on a panel of attorneys in the Dependency, Neglect, and Abuse docket of Family Court, representing children and parents in many cases alleging abuse and neglect. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to significantly grow my adoption practice, and have had the honor to represent hundreds of adoptive and foster parents in the adoption of their children. As a result, in addition to my divorce, custody and child abuse and neglect experience, I am the only candidate who has extensive experience handling complex international and interstate adoption cases. I am the only candidate who is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a national organization of adoption attorneys admitted as Fellows after a rigorous selection process.

I live in Union with my husband, Andy, and our three children. We are parents through birth and adoption and have completed the Kentucky foster parent training. Andy is the Assistant Principal at Ryle High School and we are active in the community, through our children’s school and sports, our church community, and also through our volunteer work. We are members of Our Savior Parish in Covington and St. Paul Church in Florence. I have been a Board Member with the Women’s Crisis Center of Northern Kentucky for eight years. In addition I have volunteered as a runner with the Women’s Crisis Center responding directly to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and I have worked as a counselor for abused and neglected children in a residential treatment center.

I care about our community which is why I am running for Family Court Judge. My professional experience as a Family Law Attorney, as well as my personal experience as a wife, a mother, and an adoptive mother has given me a unique perspective to understand issues facing our community and families that comprise it. As a Family Court Judge I will always listen to determine the best interests of the children and will treat every person with respect and fairness.

I am committed to serving the children and families in Boone and Gallatin Counties and I ask that you please vote for me, Jennifer Dusing, on November 6th.
