BIRCUS Brewing in Ludow celebrating grand opening of taproom Wednesday in Historic Ludlow Theatre


BIRCUS (Beer-cus) Brewing Co. will celebrate the grand opening of its taproom, located in the newly renovated Historic Ludlow Theatre at 322 Elm St. on Wednesday from noon to midnight.

The grand opening celebration will begin with a spectacular circus ribbon “cutting” at noon sharp, and the day will include great beer, circus performers, music, and food vendors.

There will be live music all day Featuring Trauma Illinois, Winston Krause and Hayden & Kayne. The headliner, Ouwiey Collins & The FunkSquad begin at 9 p.m. Fresh off their European Tour, Guests Circus Artists Duo Rose will perform their spectacular Duo Trapeze Act.

“We are excited to be a part of Celebrating BIRCUS Grand opening because it is Time to bring Big Smiles back on your faces so Let the Funkin Circus Begin..” said Ouiwey Collins!

BIRCUS brews being will release special some special barrel-aged beers including: “Big Panda” Flanders Sour, Wine Barrel Aged “Lud-Lite”(Gluten Removed, 10 p.m.), Wine Barrel Aged “Miss Patterson” Belgian Blonde (named for Ludlow’s Daughter and 1931 Miss America and Ziegfeld Follie Dancer Ann Lee Patterson). Guest brews being featured are Alexandria Brewing’s “Cecilia’s Grace” Belgian Quad,  Darkness Brewing’s “Man on the Moo” Milk Stout and Wooden Cask’s “Newporter”

Currently, BIRCUS’s award-winning beers can be found in the BIRCUS taproom, as well as quality establishments across Northern Kentucky and Indiana.

Paul Miller, owner and operator of the brewery who refers to himself as the Chief Goof-Officer, imported the BIRCUS concept from Ghent, Belgium and organized a deal for BIRCUS as the first brewery in the USA to qualify with the SEC under Regulation A+, meaning most of the brewery’s 100+ equity owner/investors are not millionaires.

“At 3 p.m. I will be performing my solo ‘Pauly The Clown Show’… Nothing like performing at home,” said Miller. “We have incredible artists from Ghana, Germany, Costa Rica and right here in Ludlow ready to wow our guests.”

BIRCUS is home to exciting events fueled by craft beer and infused with Circus including: Improv with The Moron Report’s A Christmas Carol, 3 on 3 indoor Covington Street Hockey, Nashville-based rockers The Josephine’s, Post Modern 97XtraBeats Dance Party, Karaoke benefitting Voices for the Innocent, Trivia with a Twist, Reeves Xmas Tree Wreath Decorating Party, Ben Levin & the Heaters and more.

“I am grateful to the countless people who’ve helped bring this project to fruition, starting with the Ludlow Fire Dept. who helped us open in 2010,” Miller continued.  ”To the dynamic artists, administrators, our G.C. Fedder’s Construction, Law Offices of Shannon Smith and of course our brewer. Special thanks to Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home for allowing us to park in the lot a 300 Elm St on Wednesday.”
