Popular BLINK to return in October, 2019, sponsored by ArtsWave, expands into Covington


BLINK will be illuminated by ArtsWave when it again lights Cincinnati, October 10-13, 2019.

The nation’s largest event of its kind, BLINK features large-scale projection mapping, murals, urban artscapes, media light, interactive art and diverse entertainment,

ArtsWave, the nonprofit planner, promoter and fundraiser of the arts throughout the Greater Cincinnati region will serve as presenting sponsor for BLINK.

Sponsors and an expansion of the event into Northern Kentucky were announced Wednesday at an event of the roof of the AC Hotel at the Banks in downtown Cincinnati.

“ArtsWave is delighted to take a major role in the 2019 return of BLINK. With the help of tens of thousands of donors every year, we’ve been investing in Cincinnati’s arts, creativity and innovation for decades,” says Alecia Kintner, ArtsWave president & CEO. “The ArtsWave Campaign forms the foundation for the quality and variety of cultural experiences that our region enjoys today, including events like BLINK that connect and enliven our community through the arts.”

BLINK expands into Covington

“How do you make the biggest event of its kind in the nation even bigger? Well, we decided to literally make it even bigger,” said Dan Reynolds, owner & partner of Brave Berlin, one of the producers of BLINK. “We’re so flippin’ excited to share that BLINK, in October of 2019, will expand to include a new zone in Northern Kentucky. We’re still working out many of the details, but we can tell you that BLINK will wind from our beautiful Roebling Bridge to Seventh and Madison in Covington. How cool is that?”

BLINK 2017 BY THE NUMBERS:

More than 1 million people attended Cincinnati’s inaugural BLINK art and light event.

More than 2,500 people participated in the BLINK light parade.

Nearly 100,000 people attended the light parade.

22 projection mappings were featured, along with 35 light-based art installations

8 new murals were painted by international artists.

30 entertainers performed throughout the weekend on 6 stages.

Nearly 500 volunteers made BLINK possible.

More than 100 artists participated in BLINK with 60 from the Cincinnati region.

There were no police incidents reported at BLINK 2017.

“BLINK continues to put Cincinnati on the global map as a creative, innovative and inclusive future city,” added Jill P. Meyer, president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. “Cincinnati innovates through collaboration and we continue to look for partnerships with businesses that are committed to growing the vibrancy of our region.”

Other investors and supporters have also been announced.
