Northern Kentucky Fire Truck Pull for Special Olympics coming up — get your team together

The Biggest Challenge in Kentucky – The Northern Kentucky Fire Truck Pull for Special Olympics – will return to Wayfair in Erlanger for its second year on Saturday, September 15. As many as 20 teams from local companies and organizations are expected to participate.

The event features teams in three divisions vying to see who can pull a 65,000-pound fire truck from the Point Pleasant Fire Department 12 feet in the fastest time. The Northern Kentucky Fire Truck Pull will get underway at 10:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony and the first pull will take place at approximately 11.

In addition to the competition, the Northern Kentucky Fire Truck Pull will feature a great atmosphere for spectators and pullers. There will be food available from local food trucks and activities for kids in the Family Fun Zone.

Teams are limited to 15 pullers and can be made up of friends, family members or coworkers. Many teams that participate in the Fire Truck Pull come from companies and other community organizations, but they could just as easily be any 15 friends or neighbors.

Teams raise a minimum of $1,000 to compete. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest pull time in men’s, women’s and co-ed (minimum of six women) divisions as well as to the team that shows the most team spirit and the team with the best team t-shirt or costume.

Additional prizes will be awarded to the Top Fundraising Team and the Top Individual Fundraiser. There will also be an award for the top fundraising Special Olympics athlete participant.

All participants receive the official Northern Kentucky Fire Truck Pull T-shirt, but teams who raise more money can earn prizes including koozies, seat cushions, and aluminum water bottles.

There is still plenty of time to get your team together and get ready to Pull for a Purpose for Special Olympics Kentucky. Visit nkytruckpull.com to register or for more details.

Proceeds from the event go to benefit Special Olympics athletes throughout the state.

The 2018 Northern Kentucky Fire Truck Pull is sponsored by Wayfair, Chuy’s, Cincinnati Airport Hilton, Point Pleasant Fire Department, Welch Equipment Company, A2I, Wayfair Outlet, Q102 and Law Enforcement for Special Olympics Kentucky.

Last year, the Fire Truck Pull replaced the DHL Plane Pull, which Special Olympics Kentucky held for the past four years. Changes at the airport have forced a pause in that event for now. Last year the Northern Kentucky Plane Pull raised nearly $35,000.
