Campbell County Public Library offers events and activities for adults, children at all branches in August


The Campbell County Public Library operates four branches. The Cold Spring Branch is located at 3920 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, phone 859-781-6166. The Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch is located at 1000 Highland Ave. in Fort Thomas, phone 859-572-5033. The Newport Branch is located at 901 E. Sixth St. in Newport, phone 859-572-5035. The Alexandria Branch is located at 8830 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria, phone 859-572-7463.

There are two Express locations for pickups and returns in Silver Grove and Melbourne.

Hours for Cold Spring, Carrico/Fort Thomas and Newport branches are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Hours for Alexandria are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; and closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, click here.

5-7 pm Monday, Aug. 13
Play the game, and create new worlds on our server, or join in on an adventure map. Win prizes and play with local kids. Register to save a spot on the limited library laptops or bring your own. You must have a paid PC account. Ages 8-19. Registration required.

Zumba with Billie Jo

Learn how to work out with Zumba! Billie Jo, a certified Zumba instructor will come to Cold Spring and help us work up a sweat! Not all exercises are suitable for everyone. Consult your doctor before participating in this or any exercise program.

Hoxworth Blood Drive
1-3 & 4:15-7 pm Wednesday, Aug. 22

Painted Rock Cactus Garden

Create your own mini cactus garden without the worry of caring for a plant or getting stuck by their prickly spines. Paint rocks to make your own unique cacti and even feel free to decorate the pot. Bob Ross Paint Along

Join Bob Ross enthusiasts and others who like to paint as we follow along with Bob Ross during one of his famous painting sessions. Canvases, paint, and happy clouds included. Ages 11-18. Registration required.

Container & Raised Bed Gardening

Join Sarah Stolz as we learn to plan, prepare, and plant your containers and raised beds successfully. Afterwards head to the the Fort Thomas Farmer’s Market which is now next door to the Library this summer and stop by CCPL’s table. Ages 18 & up. No need to register.

DIY Stenciled Tiles (Drop-In Program)
3:30-5:30 pm Thursday, Aug. 23
Drop in anytime between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm and paint a ceramic tile to be used as a trivet or just as a decoration in your garden or home. We will use stencils to create beautiful painted designs on your tile. This craft should take about 20 minutes to complete. Ages 18 & up. No need to register.

Adventure Time Marathon
1-4 pm Thursday, Aug. 9
Before school starts again and summer ends, escape the hot August afternoon for three hours in the Library. We’ll watch as many Adventure Time episodes as we can, play A.T. games, have snacks, a just lounge around the President’s Room in bean bag chairs. Ages 11-19. No need to register.

Euchre Tournament
6-8:30 Monday, Aug. 13
Join us for a night of card dealing, table talk, and fun competition. From 6-6:30pm, we’re having a tutorial for new players, so come play with us even if it’s your first time. At 6:30 pm, the tournament begins. We’ll draw for random partners, change up teams throughout the night, and count each individual player’s score throughout the tournament. Prizes are awarded to first, second, and third place. Ages 18 & up. No need to register.

Homeschoolers’ Book Club

Friends Book Sale

The Friends of the Library are open 9 a.m. to noon the fourth Thursday every month from January-October for a book sale. Stop in to take advantage of great prices on a wide selection of books for all ages. Prices range from 25 cents to $2 for select titles. The book sale is located in the Friends Room on the lower level of the Newport Branch. All ages. No need to register.

Fly Fishing
