Boone County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters to hold organizational meeting

Boone County volunteer, faith-based, non-profit and charitable organizations are all invited to become part of Boone County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).

Nationally, VOAD is an association of organizations that mitigate and alleviate the impact of disasters, provides a forum promoting cooperation, communication, coordination and collaboration and fosters more effective delivery of services to communities affected by disaster. There are more than 100 chapters across the country.

Although Boone County VOAD is not directly affiliated with county government, they do work in close collaboration to prepare for an efficient response in the event of a disaster.

Many volunteer, faith-based, non-profit and charitable organizations want to assist the community should an emergency or disaster impact the county.

Interested organizations are invited to join VOAD so their volunteers can be credentialed, trained and prepared to assist in advance of such an event.

An informational meeting will be held on June 12th, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ferguson Community Center on the second floor of the historic courthouse in Burlington located at 2988 Washington Street in Burlington, KY 41005.

All interested volunteer, faith-based, non-profit and charitable organizations are invited to attend. Reservations are requested but not required. To RSVP, click here.
