Bevin appoints Fort Mitchell’s Leith to Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing


Gov. Matt Bevin today made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:

Kenya McPheeters, Julianna Leith and Kelli Sanchez have been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

  • Julianna Leith, of Fort Mitchell, is an educational interpreter for Boone County Schools. She will represent certified deaf interpreters and serve for a term expiring Oct. 1, 2021.
  • Kenya McPheeters, of Louisville, is a sign language interpreter and director of Sorenson Communications. She will represent certified practicing interpreters and serve for a term expiring Oct. 1, 2020.
  • Kelli Sanchez, of Louisville, is a staff interpreter and statewide ASL liaison for the Kentucky Court of Justice. She will represent certified practicing interpreters and serve for a term expiring Oct. 1, 2021.

The Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf of Hard of Hearing administers and enforces the statutory authority and monitors the needs of the consuming public. The Board licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of interpreting and recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality.
