Get outdoors and explore the Boone County’s backyard through hands-on activities for all ages at Family Nature Day. The free event is Saturday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Boone Woods Park, 6000 Veterans Way, in Burlington.

Discover what life lurks in the water of creek beds, examine local fossils and wildlife, and learn how to conserve natural resources. BCPL has an action-packed day planned with participating organizations providing lots of fun activities to get you enjoying the great outdoors. There will be a nature scavenger hunt with the Boone Conservancy, Fishing 101 with the KY Department of Fish and Wildlife, water sampling and kick nets with the KY Division of Water, make your own bird feeder with Wild Birds Unlimited, and much more.

Get friendly with bugs with forensic entomologist Dr. Greg Dahlem, reptiles of all sorts with Marc Frevola and the Arrowhead Reptile Rescue, fish and mussels of the Ohio River with the Thomas More Field Biology Station.
