Groundbreaking set for Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Wilder scheduled to open in mid-2017

On Tuesday, Nov. 29, Holiday Inn Express & Suites representatives will be joined by officials, owners, developers, and managers in breaking ground on the area’s newest hotel, to be located at 8 Hampton Lane in Wilder.

holiday-inn-buildingCrestpoint Companies, an Ohio based Hotel Development and Management Company is the developer for the project.  The project will be incorporating the following GREEN INITIATIVES designed to exceed 10 percent energy savings according to ASHRAE 90.1 & SBA:

  • ERV AAON Make-up air systems: Holiday Inn Express & Suites requires constant, 24/7, exhaust in their guestrooms = to 50 cfm (cubic feet per minute) which in turn requires outside or make-up air to supply the exhaust systems.  A large amount of energy goes into tempering outside to feed air into the corridors that feeds under the guestroom doors to the exhaust system. The outside air could be 90 degrees or 0 degrees.  The savings using the ERV systems have calculated to be equal 17 % of the total energy required to maintain the hotel.  The payback for the systems is calculated to be 3.5 years.
  • Energy Management System for control of PTACS: Amana has developed a computerized management system that utilizes occupancy sensors, wireless digital thermostats and a master control system located at the front desk.  The concept is to minimize energy in an unoccupied space when it is not needed plus give the added benefit of being able to pre-cool or heat a space from the control system at the front desk to give a better customer experience and save energy at the same time.  Amana has projected savings to be as high as 35 %.  The system can also tell maintenance when there is a problem with the unit or when the filter needs changed.
  • Low E Window Coating:  Low-emittance (low-E) window coatings reduce the U-factor by suppressing radiative heat flow or solar gain from an exterior warm pane of glass to a cooler interior pane reducing heat gain in the guestroom and less energy required to temper the air.
  • LED Lighting: Can produce up to a 70% energy savings over incandescent lighting.
