Freedom announces new food choices for coming season; jerseys to be raffled for GO Pantry

With opening day coming up this Friday, it’s time to start thinking about all the delicious food options that will be featured at UC Health Stadium this summer.

In the Y’All Star season, the Freedom will continue to be a part of the Kentucky Proud program and, in doing so, take a special interest in providing products from local vendors. Many of the mouth-watering selections at UC Health Stadium this summer will be based out of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Some of last season’s staples are returning to the ballpark this season, including Snappy Tomato Pizza’s personal-pan sizes and Gold Star Chili, “The Flavor of Greater Cincinnati.” Both can be found at the Ballpark Favorites stand down the first base line and are accompanied by hamburgers and hot dogs.

The third-base side is the new location of the Dessert Den, which will host newcomer Delicio Pizza and its coal-fire, artisan recipe. Also on the third-base side, Brooks Meats products are back and better than ever. Joining its famous brat will be a new premium Brooks Meats Burger.

After choosing from the many entrée selections, the Dessert Den is also your home for Yagoot Frozen Yogurt. Named one of the top-10 must eats by Cincinnati Foodie, Yagoot’s yogurt is served straight to you from local, farmer-owned co-ops and uses only hormone-free dairies. Accompanying Yagoot in the Dessert Den will be everyone’s favorite sweets, including funnel cakes.

And no trip to the ballpark is complete without trying some of the local craft beer selections. This season, every window will feature a variety of local favorites, including Christian Moerlein, Hudepohl, Braxton, and West Sixth breweries. There is also a new beer barn, The Craft Lefty, highlighted by eight craft breweries.

All suites and parties booked with the Freedom can look forward to our full menu of BBQ pulled chicken, a carving station (Thursday-Saturday), hot dogs, hamburgers (Sunday-Wednesday), Mac & Cheese, Caesar salad, green beans, coleslaw, and Gigi’s Cupcakes. It also includes 90 minutes of unlimited soft drinks. To book a party or group, call the Freedom at 859-594-4487 for more information.

The Freedom begin their 2016 campaign at home against the Windy City Thunderbolts this Friday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all games at UC Health Stadium, including opening day and the 2016 Frontier League Y’all Star Game, can be found here.

The 2016 season will mark the 13th year the Freedom have played in Florence.

Cow pattern jerseys raffled for GO Pantry benefit

The most unique jersey promotion in sports is going to take the field Friday night at the Florence Freedom 2016 season opener.

In a partnership with Chick-fil-A on Houston Road, the Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, will have one player each night wear a special cow pattern jersey to knock out hunger in Boone County.

During the game, fans can bid on the jersey and the highest bidder will take it home off the player’s back. All of the proceeds will benefit GO Pantry.

“The idea came from watching a volleyball game,” Freedom General Manager Josh Anderson said. “I’m not that familiar with the sport so the libero fascinated me because I was curious as to why they wore a different color jersey. I wanted to implement a different color jersey into our games with a connection to a great cause, so fans would ask about it and look into it. It’s a win-win for the sponsor and promoting advocacy for the charity.”

GO Pantry is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that works with Boone County elementary schools to provide food to children who do not have enough to eat at home.

According to a story by WCPO in April of last year, the number of Boone County children in poverty leaped 122 percent from 2000 to April of 2015. GO Pantry “strives to make a positive impact on kids in our area by providing food to those who are hungry.”
