Renaissance Covington to host grand opening at new space on Pike Street Friday; public invited


Renaissance Covington is hosting an official grand opening in its new space at 2 West Pike Street.

The public is invited to join the team to toast the new space and the holiday season on Friday, Dec. 11, from 4-7 p.m. at the new offices, a hub for the nonprofit’s information and engagement with the community.

Renaissance Covington is a small nonprofit aimed at revitalizing Covington’s historic downtown through urban art, local food, community programming and business support.

This year, Renaissance celebrates several successful city initiatives including Madlot, the pop­up performance park at the corner of Seventh and Washington streets.

Other efforts have included the weekly Covington Farmers Market, Art Off Pike, the Bike­Centennial Tour, Covington’s Urban Guide, the Underpass Rock Garden at Pike and Russell streets, and most recently, the successful Night Bazaar hosted in Roebling Point.

In addition to the public events and programs, Renaissance Covington is working on retaining and growing downtown business.

Also hosting Grand Openings Friday are Durham Dept, a fashion and design destination, Shannon C. Smith Law Office, Body by Bree Fitness Studio and Point Perk Coffee.

Renaissance Covington expects 2016 to be another exciting year, as it kicks off the urban parklet competition, Curb’d ­ that encourages unique outdoor spaces that support local businesses.

Renaissance supports and encourages the strong community thriving in Covington and looks forward to even more growth.
