The Boy Scouts of America, troop 236, invite people to come to their annual spaghetti dinner on February 18 at Gloria Dei Church in Crestview Hills from 5-8 p.m.
“This will be the 24th year the scouts have held this dinner,” said Tina Smeltzer, fundraiser chairperson. “We had a record year before the pandemic hit, but since the pandemic we have been trying to get attendance up again.”
This year, with COVID mostly in the rearview mirror, the scouts are hoping lots of families would like to have a night out where they don’t have to cook, and they can have spaghetti, which most people like, and they don’t have to clean up.
The highest price is $10 for a spaghetti and meatball dinner, a salad, garlic bread and a drink. They will also have a bake sale with a table full of baked goods that people can buy. Smeltzer said they will have a carry out for the convenience of families who would love to have spaghetti, but want to eat at home.
There will also be a silent auction.
“We don’t have our prizes yet for this year, but in the past we have had a fire pit, business products, lots of gift certificates and sometimes sports articles,” said Smeltzer. “This is a fun night, a family friendly night, where everyone can go, have something to eat and meet with friends. And they will know they are helping out the Boy Scouts.”
Proceeds from the spaghetti supper go towards funding the troop, making it possible for the scouts to attend different camps during the year. Scouts can attend camps in Georgia, North Carolina, Indiana, and this year they may attend a camp closer to Louisville.
They also have had the chance to visit Philmont Adventure Camp in New Mexico.
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time, or on February 18 at the dinner.
