The Kentucky Chamber has announced University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball Coach John Calipari and University of Louisville Men’s Basketball Coach Kenny Payne as keynote speakers of the Chamber’s 2022 Annual Meeting Dinner on Wednesday, September 14 in Louisville.
At the event, nearly one thousand Kentuckians will gather as the Kentucky Chamber celebrates key accomplishments of the past year, looks ahead to the future, and continues its mission to improve the business climate in the Commonwealth.
Kentucky Educational Television Public Affairs Director Renee Shaw will moderate the conversation between Calipari and Payne, which will be focused on leadership, teamwork, and more.
John Calipari has coached the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team for 13 years, leading Kentucky to its eighth national championship and his first national title in 2012. Throughout his 30-year coaching career, Calipari has led one team to a national championship, guided six teams to the Final Four, helped 54 players be selected in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft, and has more than 800 victories. Additionally, Calipari is only the second coach in NCAA history to lead three different schools to the Final Four.
Kenny Payne was named as coach of the University of Louisville men’s basketball team in March 2022. Payne has had a 17-year career coaching basketball at both the college and NBA levels, and most recently, served as an assistant coach of the New York Knicks NBA team. Before going to coach in the NBA, Payne spent ten years as an assistant coach at the University of Kentucky and five years at the University of Oregon. Payne is a graduate of the University of Louisville and was selected in the first round of the 1989 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Kentucky Chamber’s 76th Annual dinner will be held on September 14 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown with a reception starting at 5:00 p.m. and dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.
