Letter to the Editor: Richard Jones says vote for Teresa Barton for Senator, 20th District

Why should we vote for Teresa Barton for Kentucky’s state 20th District Senate?

The reasons are many and sound why we need Teresa as a Democratic Senator- representing Kentuckians in this district. One is we want to protect our constitutional rights for the freedom of women across this state. The Republicans are trying with all they’ve got to enforce involuntary servitude on all women, with their anti-abortion laws. Luckily we have honest judges that are striking down this atrocity being manifested by a majority of white male KY Republican legislators.

Another reason to vote for Teresa Barton for Senator is to protect our children, across the state, from being killed by assault weapons, while in school.

Teresa Barton’s Republican opponent Gex Williams, openly supports the ownership of these military style assault weapons that are used in these horrific acts on innocent children and adults, here in Kentucky and across the nation. He’s know that the very type of weapons he supports have killed innocent children.

Another reason: Teresa Barton will, with great resolve, help stop Gex Williams Republican Party, who are currently attempting to ambitiously disenfranchise and delegitimize our freedom to vote across Kentucky and our nation. Many freedom-loving citizens perceive this to be an imminent threat to our Democracy and our Republic.

Voting for Teresa Barton for Kentucky’s next Democratic Senator will “weed out” those like Republican Gex Williams from our states legislation.

Seems to me that too many Republican politicians “sport” backgrounds of deception. Didn’t Gex Williams violate ethics laws in the past? The Courier Journal News Paper has a write up on his false reports. Look it up ! (Then there’s his reported discrepancies about his education and other backgrounds he tells about) Is that the type of “special interest” political candidate, we Kentuckians want?

And here’s many other really good reasons to vote for Teresa Barton for our State Senator.

I asked Teresa Barton about our children – “What can we do right now to ensure a bright future in their education and leave them a healthy natural world?”

She said, “We must focus on making sure we fund Family Resource Youth Centers. Keep taxpayers dollars with public schools to strengthen our schools, not threaten the future of “all” students. Continue to focus on “any type” of advanced learning after high school. Let us encourage trade schools – community and technical college’s are a good fit for students to have a lifelong skill set , even if it’s not a bachelor’s degree . There’s a shortage of plumbers, electrician and HIVAC techs.”

Teresa Barton went on telling about herself, work, and life style – what she says is basically a good “rule of thumb” we should all do, to leave behind a healthy natural world for our children’s future.

Teresa said, “I’ve been in the energy efficiency business for over 14 years and know the value of conserving energy at county and city schools, plus local and state government. Upgrading to more efficient systems not only lowers our bills, but takes pressure off the grid that allows utilities not to be forced to expand to produce more. I’ve driven a hybrid for 15 years and it’s saved me thousands of dollars and I’ve driven hundreds of thousand’s miles.”

I’ve known Teresa Barton all my adult life (over four decades), she served as County Judge Executive in Franklin County, where I grew up and have lived my life. She served, to my knowledge, ”second to none” as the best judge-executive we’ve had in the county.

I’ve farmed full time my entire life, married and raised my two sons (farmers too!) here and Teresa Barton has alway had a kind expression and a warm smile on her face, every time I’ve seen her or spoken to her. We need a kind, truthful, and honest person as our next state Senator – that’s Teresa Barton !
