NKyTribune’s NewsMatch campaign ends at midnight; double your contribution, support local news

The opportunity to have your contribution to the NKyTribune DOUBLED by NewsMatch ends at midnight tonight. Happy New Year to you — and our best wishes for a happy and healthy 2022.

The NKyTribune will be celebrating its seventh birthday on January 15, 2022. It has been an exciting seven years since the founders — Judy Clabes and late Gene Clabes and Mike Farrell — launched their dream project — returning a reliable local “newspaper” to the Northern Kentucky they loved. It was a region yearning for its own newspaper again, after the unfortunate demise of the beloved Kentucky Post.

The work continues — a nonprofit, community-owned and community-focused public service “newspaper” albeit online (It’s still a newspaper to us!). To date nearly 30,000 stories have been published here. And they are still here (and always will be), online, searchable and part of a rich data-base of story-telling and reporting that will serve history well.

The Tribune relies on sponsorship support, foundation and charitable support — and the support of its readers who are asked to volunteer their contributions to keep independent news ongoing — and strong.

The content is free and accessible to all. And you are all invited to join in.

The Tribune participates each year-end in the national NewsMatch campaign — funded by a coalition of national funders who care about the survival of local news — which provides a match for every INDIVIDUAL contribution to the newsite. It’s that simple — give what you can and NewsMatch will double it, right up to the very end of December 31, 2021. And, the NKyTribune has been awarded a “stretch goal” in the last days of the campaign, just to make it interesting. Help us prove that this community is serious about the sustainability of the NKyTribune.

Over our seven years, The NKyTribune has developed partners throughout Kentucky, to keep NKY connected to its state and to Frankfort. We have provided free obituaries, a regular Our Rich History column by local historians, a terrific The River column by Capt. Don Sanders, prep sports coverage, election coverage, locally written columns on mental health, people, the arts, nonprofits, neighborhoods, finances and more, great storytelling and compelling indepth reporting on the courts and education and the business community — and the list goes on.

You get news updates daily, 24/7, seven days a week. And you can get a daily e-newsletter headline service — free — to your email box just for signing up.

Please support The NKyTribune with your voluntary contribution (it is tax deductible, truly) and help us meet the NewsMatch challenge — more reader support than ever before.

Click the box (above) in the story to contribute online or send a check (dated no later than December 31) to The NKyTribune, 644 Braddock Court, Edgewood, KY 41017.

Thank you, readers. Happy reading!
