NewCath sophomore Griffin Hatfield has role in Children’s Theater production of Elf, Jr., The Musical


Newport Central Catholic Sophomore Griffin Hatfield will be performing in the Cincinnati Children’s Theater production of Elf, Jr. The Musical.

Griffin is playing Charlie, the head elf, and Michael, the younger brother of Buddy, the lead character.

This is Griffin’s first major role in a Children’s Theater of Cincinnati Mainstage production.

The show starts December 4 is at the Taft Theater.

Griffin is the son of Tony and Amy Green Hatfield of Cold Spring.

The story: Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity.

Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

The 70-minute show runs December 4-12 for public performances and has school performances December 7-10 and 13.
