Purple People Bridge to reopen Friday and switch will be flipped for annual Winter Nights River Lights


The Purple People Bridge will reopen Friday, Nov. 19, with a private ribbon-cutting featuring local elected officials and donors planned at 5 p.m.

The Reopening/ Ribbon Cutting is made possible by Devou Good Foundation, John and Sue Topits Foundation, RC Durr Foundation, Newport Foundation, and the Newport Southbank Bridge Company.

Following the ribbon-cutting at approximately 6 p.m., the switch will be flipped as the bridge and Wish Tree are once again lit for the annual Winter Nights River Lights holiday light display.

The public is invited and welcome to attend the lighting ceremony.

This year the annual holiday light display will also feature Yarn Art installations on the Ohio and Kentucky approaches leading up to the Purple People Bridge.

Winter Nights River Lights is made possible by Newport on the Levee, Corporex, CIG Communities, Newport Foundation, Southbank Partners, and the Newport Southbank Bridge Company.
