Almost thirty years ago, the film crew for Neil Simon’s play, Lost in Yonkers, remade the city of Ludlow as the venue for filming the movie version.
Many current residents and nearby townfolks fondly remember those exciting days meeting the stars, being part of the crowd scenes, and experiencing their town graced with antique cars and freshly painted buildings for the movie set.

The movie is coming back to the old Ludlow Theater at 332 Elm St, now Bircus Brewery, on Sunday, November 14 — all to benefit the Ludlow Historic Society.
Doors open at 5.m., and the movie begins at 6 p.m. with an introduction by local artist Tom Gaither.
Single tickets are $5, and a special family package with pizza, drinks, and movie is available.
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online at www.bircus.com or during opening hours beginning at 4 p.m. at the brewery. They also can be purchased the day of the event.
Proceeds from tickets and sales of memorabilia will be donated to the Ludlow Historic Society’s preservation programs.
Simon’s play and movie adaptation is set in 1942 and is about two teenage boys whose mother died and whose care was relegated to an aunt and a stubborn grandma who owned a candy store.
The life stories of the family unfold in unusual ways producing a rich mixture of comedy and drama.
