Kentucky Voices for Health sets annual meeting virtually for December 2-3; registration is open


Kentucky Voices for Health will be hold its 2021 Annual Meeting virtually on Thursday, December 2nd and Friday, December 3rd.

In a legislative panel, moderated by Dr. Sheila Schuster, state legislators will respond to the challenges Kentuckians face to good health and well-being, and discuss policy opportunities to improve health equity. This dialogue will focus on how advoates can advance legislation during the 2022 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly to address the ongoing physical and behavioral health impact of the pandemic, improve the delivery of Medicaid services, and strengthen Kentucky’s public health infrastructure.

Senator Julie Raque Adams, R-Senate District 36, was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2010 where she served until being elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 2014. Her senate district represents the northeast portion of Jefferson County. She is Majority Caucus Chair for the Kentucky State Senate, Co-Chair of the 1915(c) HCBS Waiver Redesign Task Force, Co-Chair of the Child Welfare Oversight and Advisory Committee, as well as a member of many other legislative committees.

Senator Stephen Meredith, R-Senate District 5, was elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 2016, and represents Breckenridge, Edmonson, Grayson, Hart, LaRue, and Meade counties. Among his many legislative committee memberships and co-chairmanships, he is currently Co-Chair of the Medicaid Oversight and Advisory Committee (MOAC), as well as Chair of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Human Resources

Senator Reggie Thomas, D-Senate District 13, was elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 2013, and represents the central portion of Fayette County. He is Minority Caucus Chair for the Kentucky State Senate, and serves on a number of legislative committees, including the Legislative Oversight and Investigations Committee, and the Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations Committee.

Representative Kim Moser, R-House District 64, was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2016, and represents portions of both Kenton and Campbell counties. Among her many roles, she is currently Co-Chair of the Health, Welfare and Family Services Committee, where she serves as Chair for the House Committee on Health and Family Services during session.

Representative Danny Bentley, R-House District 98, was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2016, and represents Greenup County and a portion of Boyd County. Among his many legislative commitee memberships and co-chairmanships, he is currently Co-Chair of the Severe Mental Illness (SMI) Task Force, as well as Chair of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Health and Family Services.

Representative Lisa Willner, D-House District 35, was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2018, and represents a central portion of Jefferson County. Among her many legislative committee memberships, she serves on the Severe Mental Illness (SMI) Task Force, the Health, Welfare and Family Services Committee, and is presently Chair of the House Minority Women’s Caucus.
