Redwood launches book drive for new children’s library during National Book Month

Just in time for National Book Month in October, Redwood is launching a book drive to fill a new library on its campus.

Redwood is seeking donations of a book, or a few, to help the organization fill the new library’s shelves when construction is complete on the new space later this year. Redwood adding space to its existing library at its Northern Kentucky campus thanks to a $20,000 grant from The Millstone Fund.

The money Redwood received as part of the grant will cover the cost of
creating the library space, including a new ceiling, lights, paint and carpet; as well as equipment for the library such as tables, chairs and shelves. The book drive will help to ensure that Redwood’s children have a robust selection of stories from which to choose when the new space opens later this year.

The new children’s library will allow Redwood’s staff to continue to provide enriching educational experiences for the children in its care through early care and education, its preschool education program, and before and after-school care programs for youth. The nonprofit hopes to collect at least 500 books.

Redwood has also established an Amazon Wish List of books for the new space.

Founded in 1953 with the mission to provide services, solutions, and hope for all children with disabilities, Redwood helps people grow abilities, shatter barriers and shine bright. The nonprofit guides children and adults with severe and multiple disabilities to achieve independence and reach their highest potential throughout their lives by providing enriching educational, therapeutic and vocational services.
