City of Union commission votes unanimously to reduce the city’s tax rate

The City of Union Commission reduced the city’s 2021- 2022 real property tax rate from .216 to .206 per $100 of valuation in a Special meeting this week.

The measure passed 5-0.

Present for the vote were Mayor Larry Solomon and all four Commissioners, Jeremy Ramage, John Mefford, Eric Dulaney, and Brian Garner.

“Due to our unprecedented growth in numbers and valuation, it is a privilege to reduce the tax rate for this next Fiscal Year,” Mayor Solomon declared.

“It is our hope this reduction will provide relief for our residents and small businesses while not impacting our level of services to the community.”
