The Boone County Sheriff’s statement is included here:

On Monday, December 9, 2019, at approximately 12:27 PM, Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Downey Drive in Hebron for a reported subject with a weapon call.

The suspect was ultimately located and arrested by deputies on scene.

Earlier in the day, Micah V. Pritchett, 21, Hebron, was given a ride by his biological mother, Elisabeth A. Roman, 39, to the methadone clinic.

Pritchett was denied service at the clinic because he didn’t have the appropriate paperwork. Roman drove Pritchett back to his apartment and believed that he was going to run inside to get the proper paperwork.

Instead, Pritchett returned to Roman’s vehicle armed with a handgun. Pritchett held Roman at gunpoint and threatened her by saying that he would shoot her and throw her in the trunk if she didn’t comply with his demands.

Pritchett demanded that Roman withdraw $20 from her bank account, give the money to him and then to drive him to a location in Ohio to buy heroin.

Roman complied with Pritchett’s demands and later dropped him back off to his apartment on Downey Drive. Roman quickly left the apartment complex uninjured and contacted a family member who then dialed 911.

Deputies on scene made contact with Pritchett by phone and he first denied being inside of the apartment. After several hours of negotiations, Pritchett finally admitted that he was in fact in his apartment and ultimately surrendered to deputies on scene without further incident.

Pritchett was arrested and charged with: Robbery 1st, Kidnapping – Adult, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and Terroristic Threatening 3rd Degree. Pritchett will be lodged at the Boone County Jail and held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
