Northern Kentucky University will host the second annual Spotlight on Scholarship on Oct. 24 in the Griffin Hall Digitorium.
Spotlight on Scholarship celebrates faculty research, scholarship and creative activity. Topics range from Frederick Douglass’ Cincinnati connections to how parents of children with disabilities navigate educational and support services.
“Each presentation speaks to the depth, and breadth, of scholarship and creative activity at NKU,” said Dr. Brian Hackett, director of the Public History Program. “This work ultimately makes our professors stronger in the classroom, which in turn contributes directly to our primary mission of preparing graduates to meet the region’s needs.”
Twenty-five professors will compete for the SOL Award, named after Sol, the goddess of the sun in Norse mythology. Dr. Kirsten Schwarz from Environmental Science received the SOL Award last year for her research on strategic depaving in Newport’s urban core.
