Newport to extend office hours for payment of property taxes which are due on October 31

The City of Newport will extend its hours of operation in October to provide an additional convenience for property owners to pay their annual property tax.

Regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The offices will be open late to accept property tax payments on the following days:

Monday, October 28 until 6 p.m.
Tuesday, October 29 until 6 p.m.
Wednesday, October 30 until 7 p.m.
Thursday, October 31 until 7 p.m.

City Property Taxes must be paid or postmarked by October 31.

There is also a drop box at the City Building; enter the vestibule of 998 Monmouth from the Monmouth Street side and look for the black dropbox.

Tax bills were mailed at the end of September and are sent directly to the property owner of record as of January 1, 2019. If taxes are paid through an escrow account, you should forward a copy of the bill to your mortgage company. Taxes levied by the City and the Newport Board of Education are included in the bills.

Delinquent bills will be assessed a penalty of 10% and interest accrues at 0.5% per month.

Please remember that the city does not currently accept credit, debit cards, or online payments. Payments may be made in person or be postmarked by October 31.
