Children Inc. surpasses $5million capital campaign goal — to serve more children and families


One hundred eighty-five generous donors brought Children, Inc.’s Scaling for Impact Capital Campaign to fruition. Donors exceeded expectations raising $5,179,243 to support Children, Inc.; surpassing the $5 million goal.

“The community really stepped up when we needed them most. We are eternally grateful to our donors who made this campaign possible. The impact of their investments will benefit children and families in our region for years to come,” said campaign Co-Chair Roger Schorr.

We are so grateful for the support from our community and the hard work of our capital campaign committee, chaired by Roger and Glenda Schorr and Gary and Nancy Strassel” said CEO Shannon Starkey-Taylor, “this generosity will allow us to build a stronger future for children and families for years to come.

Contributions to the Scaling for Impact Capital Campaign support the following programs and projects:

• Opened five new early learning centers in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky to serve an additional 400 children annually. Children, Inc. now operates 14 early learning centers in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, serving 1,200 children annually.

• Awarded $200,000 in scholarships to families in need of high-quality early childhood education in 2017 and 2018. This support allows Children, Inc. to provide care for families regardless of their ability to pay, fostering relationships between parents and center directors to be relational, not transactional.

• Expanded NaviGo college and career programming to 4,000 high school students annually. Through NaviGo students identify their strengths, use them to set career goals, and navigate towards a successful future.

• Empowered 628 parents to want more for their children—giving them the tools and resources to equip their children for the future through the Parent Academy.

• Founded and operates a Regional Family Engagement Center in Northern Kentucky while developing and testing innovative family engagement strategies for statewide dissemination through the Innovation Lab.
