Briefs: Optimist holding candidate series, 65 call center jobs now, Gateway’s easy Express Enrollment


The Optimists are hosting a Kentucky 63rd State House Special Election Speaker Series. Josh Blair, Democrat, spoke to the group on Wednesday, October 2, at noon at PeeWees. Kim Banta, Republican, will speak to the Optimists on Wednesday, October 16, at noon at PeeWees. The public is invited to attend. There is no charge except for the price of lunch off the menu at PeeWees. The program format will be the same as past speaker series.

For other candidates: Allison Ball, Kentucky Treasurer will speak on October 9 and Ryan Quarles Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture will speak on October 23.

Seeking to hire 65 call center employees

Insight Global, one of the largest Staffing Agencies in the U.S., is currently working on a large project in the Florence area.

A Fortune 100 company is looking for 65 Outbound Telesales Representatives. The representatives, to be based in Florence, will be responsible for selling and upselling the company’s core products to new residential prospects and existing residential customers nationwide via outbound calling in a call center environment.

The first month will be spent purely in training and nesting to get employees comfortable and confident in the systems and procedures.

The candidates should have customer service experience. The shifts are Monday through Friday from noon-9 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. Weekends and holidays are off. There is a 10% pay raise each month for the first 3 months and after the first 3 months employees are eligible for free cable, wifi and cell phone.

Express enrollment for Gateway

Gateway Community & Technical College wants to make it easy to enroll in classes for the Oct. 17 start and the spring semester by offering prospective students Express Enrollment opportunities Oct. 4, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Edgewood Campus, 790 Thomas More Parkway.

During this event, prospective students may apply, complete orientation, sign-up for an advising appointment and receive information on financial aid and scheduling. The goal is to make the enrollment process as simple and as fast as possible.

Gateway offers in-person and online classes at three convenient campus locations and start times.
