The Carnegie offers Art of She season — dedicated to featuring art of women artists across the globe

The Carnegie’s ART OF SHE 2019-20 season is dedicated to featuring the art of women artists from the region and across the globe.

Now in its fourth year, ART OF SHE’s first signature event of the season, in partnership with Bridges Not Walls, is “Girl Power” at Pendleton Street Photography on October 17 from 6-9 p.m. ART OF SHE members will enjoy Cuban-inspired cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and an intimate discussion with artist Osy Milian and curator, Yudith Vargas Riveron, of Havana. Pieces from “Girl Power” will also be available for purchase.

“We are excited to welcome Osy and Yudith to the region and partner with Bridges Not Walls,” said Litsa Spanos, ART OF SHE Co-Chair and President of ADC Art Design Consultants, Inc. “Art connects audiences, communicating across cultures and experiences. ‘Girl Power’ presents the unique opportunity of meeting an international artist and curator, learning about their journeys, challenges and inspirations first-hand.”

The second signature event of the season will be held at the home of Jeff Thomas on March 26 as he shares his personal art collection with ART OF SHE members. The evening will include a discussion with The Carnegie’s Theatre Director, Maggie Perrino, and a special performance by Kim Long as Judy Garland, featuring iconic songs from The Carnegie’s spring production of “End of the Rainbow.” The event also includes a raffle opportunity to win a dinner prepared by Jeff Thomas himself.

The 2019-20 bi-annual events are included in an ART OF SHE membership. A membership is $500 and includes admission for the member and a guest to both signature 2019-20  ART  OF  SHE  events. Proceeds benefit The Carnegie Galleries, and a portion of the membership is tax-deductible. ART OF SHE members also receive invitations to auxiliary events. A special discount pass will also be offered for The Carnegie’s two-day arts and engagement festival, NINETEEN: WE THE WOMEN.

For the first time, ART OF SHE is opening their fall signature event to the public with a limited number of $75 individual tickets available for “Girl Power.”

“GIRL POWER is an event that will appeal to the broader community outside of our traditional ART OF SHE membership,” said Kim Best, Executive Director of The Carnegie. “This international artist exchange conversation is an opportunity for us to introduce ART OF SHE to a new audience while maintaining the intimacy of past events and encouraging dialogue between artists and attendees.”
