Taylor Mill man charged with murder in connection to July stabbing incident at Papa’s Pub in Florence

A Taylor Mill man has been arrested and charged with murder and other charges in connection with the July 21, stabbing incident that resulted in the death of a Jonesville man at Papa’s Pub in Florence.

Ishmail Tariq Powell, 41, was indicted by a Boone County Grand Jury on charges of Murder, Attempted Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Persistent Felony Offender in the 1st Degree.

Florence Police responded to the pub in the early morning hours of July 21, in reference to a call for a fight involving several people inside the restaurant.  Upon arrival, officers found two subjects who had been stabbed and one who had been struck multiple times in the face.  

Stephen J. Dodson, 31, of Jonesville, Kentucky, succumbed to his stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other stabbing victim was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati and was treated and released.

Powell is currently lodged in the Boone County Jail.
