Conner High School student Cody Hardin to be honored for heroism in school assembly Friday

A local high school student who stopped a kidnapping at Conner High School earlier this month will be honored at a school assembly on Friday.

Cody Hardin

Cody Hardin has been hailed a hero for stepping in when 18-year-old Benjamin Margitza came to NKY from Las Vegas to see a 16-year-old girl he met online. Margitza approached the girl in the parking lot at Conner and attempted to follow her into the school.

Hardin witnessed the altercation and stepped in to prevent Margitza from entering the school. Deputies said Hardin likely prevented her abduction. Margitza was arrested and faces multiple charges. His bond was set at $50,000. He paid the cash bond.

On Friday, Rep. Ed Massey, Rep. Sal Santoro and local officials will honor Hardin at 9:20 a.m. at the school.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office will also be on hand to deputize the student, Cody Hardin.
