Rabbit Hash Old Timers Day is Saturday; 40th year for annual festival includes live music, food, more

The annual Old Timers Day celebration in Rabbit Hash is Saturday, August 31.

This year marks the 40th year of the Old Timers Day Festival.

It started out as an intimate, local gathering to share food and stories of yesteryear and although it has morphed into a music festival, it still serves a similar purpose. It is a gathering of families, friends, locals and out of town folks to bid farewell to summer, share stories and remember those who have gone before us.

It is hard to be in Rabbit Hash and not think of times when life was simpler, maybe harder but maybe just simpler.

After all, when you begin the descent into the Ohio River valley at Rabbit Hash, something calms you and reassures you that life and people are good.

Residents look forward to this day every year and this year is no different. Things are not the same as they were four years ago or 40 years ago, but everyone still needs a place and time to connect to one another.

Let it be Old Timers Day for you this year.

The Saturday of Labor Day weekend sets the stage for the fest and begins at 11 a.m.

As always, now and forever, there is limited parking and ice chests are not permitted.

Make it out to join in the merrymaking of this festival, enjoy some food and good company on the banks of the Ohio River.

Stay tuned-in to Rabbit Hash to catch one of the final barn dances of the season or to check out the Living Land and Waters River Cleanup boat parked on the river in Rabbit Hash September 4-14.
