Business owners are busy and may not have time to research the best communication tools to take their organization to the next level. That’s why the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (NKY Chamber) is hosting “Tools for Becoming a Better Communicator” on Wednesday, September 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Glavic
The session will be led by Jamie Glavic, Account Supervisor at Scooter Media. Glavic has more than 10 years of experience in non-profit marketing and communications. Her areas of expertise include communication strategy, media relations, marketing, advertising, social media, content development, team building, and event planning.
Attendees will learn about must-have free and low-cost resources to support day-to-day business communications needs including scheduling, proofreading, photo/video editing, and more.
Tools for Becoming a Better Communicator will run from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the NKY Chamber (300 Buttermilk Pike, Suite 330, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017). Registration is $15 for NKY Chamber members, $30 for future NKY Chamber members, and $10 for NKYP Passport holders.

NKITA to host session on trademark basics for small businesses
Northern Kentucky International Trade & Affairs will host its next session on trademark basics at the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (NKY Chamber) (300 Buttermilk Pike, Suite 330 Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017) from 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17.
Craig Morris, Managing Attorney for Trademark Educational Outreach at the Office of the Commissioner for Trademarks in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in Alexandria, Virginia will present. He is currently spearheading the effort for increased USPTO educational activities in the area of trademark fundamentals.
“Trademarks, copyrights, patents, domain names and business name registrations are all different,” said Debby Shipp, Vice President of International Trade & Affairs for the NKY Chamber. “That’s why it is so important for business owners to know the fundamentals of how to select, register, and protect a trademark.”
Attendees will learn why new businesses should select a trademark that can be registered federally and legally protectable, the importance of doing a complete search, when to use an attorney, what to do if another trademark owner sends a “cease-and-desist” letter, the role of the USPTO, and how to avoid trademark scams.
