Lindsey Wilson, Campbellsville voted co-favorites in Mid-South volleyball poll; Thomas More tabbed sixth

Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville were selected as the co-favorites in the Mid-South Conference preseason volleyball poll, which was released on Wednesday.

Thomas More was picked sixth in the poll. The Saints, who posted a 33-4 record last season and advanced to the regional finals while competing at the NCAA Division III level, are entering their first year of competition in the Mid-South Conference after returning to the NAIA.

Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville each tallied 58 points to tie for first. The Blue Raiders picked up four of the nine first-place votes after sweeping both the MSC regular-season and tournament titles. Lindsey Wilson finished the season 33-4 and reached the quarterfinals of the NAIA nationals.

Campbellsville earned three first-place votes in the poll. Last season, the Lady Tigers posted a 25-11 overall record and were 11-2 in MSC play.

Georgetown (Ky.) is third in the poll with 50 points and the final two first-place votes. The Tigers ended last season with a 19-13 record, including a 10-4 record in the MSC.

Cumberlands (Ky.) finished fourth in the balloting with 36 points followed by Cumberland (Tenn.) with 34 points. Thomas More is sixth in the poll with 33 points. The Saints welcome back five starters from last season, including sophomore outside hitter Emily Mohs.

Mohs was named both the American Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in 2018.

Life (Ga.) and Shawnee State are picked seventh and eighth in the preseason poll with 29 and 16 voting points, respectively. Pikeville rounds out the preseason poll with 10 voting points. The 2019 Mid-South Conference volleyball tournament is scheduled for Nov. 14-16 in Bowling Green, Ky.

Thomas More opens the season at the Mid-South Conference Challenge Aug. 23-24 at Bowling Green, Ky. The Saints meet Bethel (Ky.) and Florida College on Aug. 23, followed by matches against Montreat (N.C.) and Union (Ky.) on Aug. 24.

Thomas More plays its home opener on Sept. 3, when Georgetown (Ky.) visits the Connor Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. showdown.
