Center for Great Neighborhoods’ Annual Celebration coming up; award nominations now being accepted

The Center for Great Neighborhoods’ Annual Celebration takes place Saturday, Sept. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hellmann Creative Center.

The Hellmann Creative Center is located at 321 W. MLK Blvd. in Covington

The free, family-friendly event will include a look back at The Center’s accomplishments so far in 2019.

It will also include a celebration of community leaders, and will feature food by graduates of The Center’s FreshLo Chef Fellowship program.

The Center for Great Neighborhoods is accepting nominations for the following awards, to be presented at the event:

Heart of the Community Award – given to resident volunteers who have made significant contributions to their community

The Heart of the Community Award is presented annually to recognize community leaders who have made significant contributions to their city, neighborhood, or school, and who have not been recognized with The Center’s Heart of the Community Award in the last two years (see 2017 & 2018 award recipients here).

Receiving this recognition is a way to highlight the accomplishments of the leader, express gratitude for his/her generous donation of time and talent, and inspire others to become involved in Covington.

Youth Leadership Key to the Future Awards – given to outstanding youth leaders who are dedicated to their community

The Key to the Future Award is presented annually to recognize a Covington youth resident who is an outstanding leader and devoted to the community.

Characteristics of previous winners include a level of volunteerism, a consistent commitment to our community, good school performance and leadership.

Those nominating are asked to consider a leader who demonstrates one or more of the following qualities:

*A strong commitment to Covington
