Beran appointed interim executive director of Kentucky Housing Corporation, replaces Edwin King

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) announces Lisa Beran as its new interim executive director and chief executive officer after Edwin King announced his resignation to enter the private sector.

“I am proud to have led KHC over the last two years to encourage housing production and new solutions that help underserved and growing populations,” said Edwin King. “Lisa Beran will continue to lead the way and champion initiatives that strengthen Kentucky.”

Beran formerly served as deputy executive director and general counsel of KHC. She retired in March 2019, but returned as interim executive director Monday, to facilitate a smooth transition.

“We appreciate Edwin King’s time of service to Kentucky Housing Corporation as executive director; he will be greatly missed,” said KHC’s Board of Directors Chair, William Summers, V. “Lisa Beran brings her wealth of knowledge back to KHC and the Corporation will continue thriving under her leadership as one of the best Housing Finance Agencies in the nation.”

KHC offers programs and services designed to develop, preserve, and sustain affordable housing throughout the state.

“Providing an array of housing solutions that empower Kentucky families is an important mission of KHC,” said Beran. “Returning as interim executive director is a tremendous opportunity, and I am enthusiastic about continuing the work on investment strategies that help our citizens and communities.”

Beran joined KHC in 2008, serving on the executive management team in the roles of general counsel, deputy executive director of Legal Services and Compliance, and Production and Programs.

Prior to her employment with KHC, she served as legal counsel for Kentucky’s statewide network of domestic violence shelter programs; as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.; and as a staff attorney with Legal Aid.

Beran is a graduate of Wake Forest University, The Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati.
