Victim in early morning stabbing fatality at Papa’s Pub in Florence identified as Jonesville, KY man

The Florence Police Department has released details of Sunday’s early morning altercation at Papa’s Pub on Main Street that resulted in the death of one man and the hospitalization of another.

Dodson

The deceased, identified as Stephen Dodson, 31, of Jonesville, KY. According to a release from the Police Department, Dodson died as a result of stab wounds.

The other victim, who has not been identified, remains hospitalized. He was also stabbed during the altercation.

Florence Police are investigating the incident. They have not identified any suspects in the altercation and are asking anyone who has information about the incident to contact them at (859) 371- 1234.

Original release from the Florence Police Department:

On 07-21-19 at 1:40 a.m., Florence Police officers were dispatched to Papa’s Pub in reference to a fight involving a large number of subjects inside the business. There was also a report of two people who had been stabbed during this fight. Upon arrival, officers found two subjects who had been stabbed and one who had been struck multiple times in the face. One of the stabbing victims was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other stabbing victim was transported to UC Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Florence Police Department’s Investigative and Crime Scene Units, along with the Boone County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the incident.

Updated release:

The victim pronounced deceased at the scene has been identified as Stephen J. Dodson, 31 years old, of Jonesville, KY. He suffered several stab wounds during the altercation at Papa’s Pub.  The second victim who suffered stab wounds is being treated at UC Hospital and is listed in stable condition.  The Florence Police Department’s Investigative Unit is continuing their investigation into the incident. Again, the Florence Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed or has any information on this incident to contact them at (859)371-1234.
