A Matter of Balance

Scheben Branch, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Learn to manage falls and increase activity levels through simple exercises to increase strength and balance. This 8-part program is being provided at no cost to seniors at risk of falling in Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties through a grant to Brighton Center Retired and Volunteer Senior Program (RSVP) from the Corporation for National and Community Service. It is taught by trained RSVP volunteer coaches. Please register for the August 6 program; this will register you for the entire 8-week series.

Friends of Big Bone: The Mandan Indians and the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery

Before Lewis and Clark made their infamous journey, the Mandan Indians were a thriving community along the upper Missouri River in North Dakota. Learn about these Native Americans who maintained secure villages and were able to provide the Corps with shelter and food during the harsh winter of 1804-1805. Discover the Corps’ effects and those of other white visitors/traders on the Mandans and their demise.
