Larry Steven Herald II, 47, of Sundance Blvd., was arrested early Sunday morning, June 30, 2019 and charged with one (1) count of Assault 1st, a Class B Felony and one (1) count of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, a Class D Felony.

Michael Holbrook, 46, of Cincinnati, OH sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the gunshot wound. Holbrook was transported by Air Care to University Hospital in Cincinnati and is currently in critical condition.

Herald, Holbrook and other adults gathered for a party at the Sundance Blvd. address on Saturday.

At the time of the shooting, Holbrook, Herald and a few others were outside socializing in the driveway. Holbrook and Herald had both reportedly been drinking and began arguing.

While outside, the verbal altercation escalated and Herald went inside of the Sundance residence and told Holbrook that when he came back out that he (Holbrook) had better be off of the property.

Herald came back outside armed with a 9mm handgun and when Holbrook refused to leave the property, Herald fired a warning shot in the direction of Holbrook who was sitting on a chair in the driveway. Holbrook did not react to the warning shot and Herald proceeded to strike Holbrook in the face with the gun in his hand. Simultaneously, upon hitting Holbrook with the gun in his hand, Herald’s gun discharged one (1) round which struck Holbrook in the upper neck area.

Larry Herald was interviewed at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and stated that the shooting was an accident. After being placed under arrest, Herald was lodged at the Boone County Jail. No bond has been set at this time.
